Birthday

The theme for this week’s Lasang Pinoy Sunday is Birthday! The event hostess, Ces, says she chose this theme this week because it’s her birthday week, so let me start off by greeting her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

It’s my birthday week too as it is for another fellow Leo and blogger friend, so all over the world, this week is an auspicious week. This is a lucky year for my birthday too as in the Chinese culture, the number 8 is very lucky and that is one reason why the Olympic games will be starting on 08-08-08. So I’m crossing my fingers that good things will happen this year although, as luck would have it, my girls will not be with me this year for the first time.

Birthdays for me has always been a celebration that requires kids. I love celebrating birthdays with children because of the wonder and innocence that remains in them. It’s contagious and I love being in the same air as that wonder. The photo, was taken on my birthday last year when we were in Los Angeles, surrounded by my daughters, my nieces, sisters, cousins, parents, grandma and more of my large and extended family. The cake was from one our favorite bakery in Chinatown, Phoenix. It’s the famous sponge cake filled with strawberries and cream and frosted with whipped cream. This year, it will just me and my husband celebrating, but I’m sure good food will be involved and definitely the Olympics opening ceremonies is in line instead of a movie.

Since I didn’t have a good birthday themed food photo, I decided to post this entry here instead.
