And if you’re somewhere that’s not cloudy or foggy like it is here in N.C., you may be able to see the Blue Moon. No, it’ won’t blue, it’s nothing that dramatic. It will look just like the full moons you’re used to, what makes it special is that it is the second full moon this month. So if you’re up to it, at midnight, when it is at its brightest, go outside and howl at the moon and welcome in the new year.

Here’s to a prosperous and joyful 2010!

  1. Happy New Year to everyone. I did not get to see the moon but I heard of an old wives tale if you go outside with your wallet that it will bring you money and luck.

  2. As it happens, I am in a place that is not only sunny, but nice and warm this time of the year. I live in Sacramento, California.

Today, January 14th was sunny and about 60′s outside.

We were out front raking the rest of the leaves that had fallen on our front yard which is landscaped. We had to be careful with the raking seeing as how the ground cover between plants is a mulch that is expensive. We didn’t want to relieve the yard of the mulch along with the dead leaves.

Calfornia and North Carolina do have one thing in common. Our public schools are not that great. Taking calculus as you’ve described in another article is the exception rather than the rule. In a 2000 student high school, MAYBE they will have one classroom of AP calculus. In many public high schools, there is no calculus at all.

Teachers must teach to the average, and the average in California is way below AP calculus in the public high schools.

And, the majority of kids who do end up in calculus programs are from groups widely recognized as hard studying conscientious students.

Congratulations for being the Mom of an exceptional student.
