Archive for the “blogging” Category

Since I’ve vowed to blog everyday this month, I’ve also promised myself to visit at least one NaBloPoMo blogger everyday using the NaBloPoMo Randomizer.

Today, found an interesting blog by a single mom who thinks her son is just the cutest and her cat Bella didn’t come home for the night and when she did, she had to go get fixed :(

Anyhoo, I was leaving her a comment, and the word verification thingy on blogger wasn’t showing up. So silly me, I decided to refresh when I couldn’t get the image to show up and totally jumped to another blog! Now the thing with the randomizer is, it’s so random that it sometimes doubles back to a blog you just viewed. So I thought I’d try my luck and see if her blog would come up again; since I couldn’t remember the title of her blog. I kept clicking on the ‘Next Random Blog’ button, and sure enough, I came back to several of the blogs I had already cycled through. Some of them, I even went back on a third time! But wouldn’t you know it, I never saw her blog again.

Maybe I’ll run across it another day. In the meantime, some other bloke got my comment for the day :)

I like watching people. My imagination starts flying as I watch; I wonder who they are, what is their story? While there is a great deal to learn about a person from how they look, there is even more to each person beyond what their physical appearance can tell you. I am always surprised when I find out something terribly interesting about a person. I’m sure you’ve muttered the ‘he doesn’t look like the type’ comment sometime in your life.

Yep, we never look the type for the story of our lives; that’s why it is so interesting to listen to people’s stories.

When I look at the news, the headline stories never really grab my attention. The human interest stories are the ones that do. For instance, they may announce another forest fire in California, bigger and badder than before; but my head does not perk up until I hear about the lone man who stayed behind vainly trying to save his home, or the boy who ran back to save his horse from a burning stable, and the stories can go on and on.

I supposed that’s why I like reading blogs. Just knowing that they are written by regular folks like myself makes them seem more personal. I love reading blogs by people who can write well. Those who know how to hook you and keep you reading. I find them addicting so I go back over and over again. I feel like I’ve become part of their lives somehow.

Then there are writers who can take something out of thin air and turn it into a novel. I am amazed where all that imagination comes from.

If like me, you need a little push to kick start your imagination, What’s Your Story  is a blog on writing prompts by who else but my imagination tickler herself, Toni of Wifely Steps. Especially this NaBloPoMo month, if you need some inspiration, you should check out What’s Your Story or Toni’s blog. I’m sure you’ll find something to write about.

Visit NaBloPoMo
So, do you want to go crazy again? What, you didn’t participate in NaBloPoMo last year? NaBloPoMo, if you didn’t know, means National Blog Posting Month. It’s a challenge for all bloggers to post everyday for the month of November. Think you’re up to it? Can you find something to muse about, rant about, write about for a whole month? 30 days including weekends and Thanksgiving holiday? I did it from our old house last year, so I know you can too!

NaBloPoMo has a brand new spankin’ site where you can network with other people who love to write and must be out of their minds to sign up for this challenge. So join me over there and let’s see if we can get through the month of November together. What do you say?

The Great Mofo Delurk 2007I just found out about this today, so excuse the lateness of this announcement. First, what is the Great Mofo Delurk? This is a campaign to get us lurkers (yes, I’m guilty too) to de-cloak and reveal ourselves. I know you’ve done this too, where you’ve visited a blog you like, read the content, perhaps even printed it out, then moved on. I’ve done this before. Actually, I do it often. And as a blogger, really, I should know better. I should have left a comment especially if I liked what I read and even went as far as printing it out.

So, it’s not too late….today is the day to delurk. That means stop lurking! Leave a comment, show some love.

One policy that I am not breaking for this event though is my policy for refraining from commenting about something I don’t like. So if you can’t say anything nice, keep moving (I have a fragile ego) but if you can show a little love, then by all means comment away.
