Just say Luciano and most opera lovers will immediately know who you are talking about. Say Pavarotti and even non opera lovers will know who you are talking about.

The world mourns the passing of of the great tenor, Luciano Pavarotti. Say what you will about his weight, but there is nothing more sexy or attractive in a man than one who has great talent and passion for his art. To one of my early crushes, whose  voice has kept me company many a night whether I had been happy or sad, thanks for the memories.

I’ve always loved music, all types. Well, let me re-phrase, most types. I can listen to almost any kind of music, and can always find something to like in every genre. No matter how much music I listen to, and you can imagine, with 5 different tastes in music in our very little house that I end up listening to quite a bit whether I want to or not, I always find myself drawn back to the same sappy romantic love songs. Music at our house, tends to reflect our mood. When we are playful and upbeat, we listen to “danceable” music. When we read, or perform chores, we tend to listen to quiet music, mostly classical, Enya, or jazz. The girls also listen to “their” hip-hoppity music at times in between, but I find my girls tend to listen to what we listen to; oldies, they call it.

I knew it was going to be a stretch when Stel tagged me, so I resorted to my oldies favorites.

What is the total amount of music files on your computer?
About 50 at work, but nil at home. That’s the girls’ domain.

The CD you last bought?
For me? Don’t know, it’s been too long to remember. Recently though, I bought Evanescence’ Fallen for Asi.

What was the last song you listened to before reading this message?
Flying – Bryan Adams

Write down five songs that you often listen to or that mean a lot to you.
I don’t really have a most-often-listened-to list, but there are a few songs that whenever I hear them, I have to sit back and close my eyes. They either evoke memories, or just strong emotions. Here’s my random five, because they most easily came to mind.

1. Have you ever really loved a woman? – Bryan Adams
2. Wildflower – Skylark
3. She (Tous les Visages d l’amour) – Elvis Costello
4. More than words – Extreme
5. Romanza – Andrea Bocelli

Who are you going to pass this stick to (3 persons) and why?

Rowena at Rubbah Slippahs – I want to learn more contemporary Italian music from her. The extent of my Italian music is operatic.

Ralph – because he is such a talented artist, I am curious. I already know he can be quite caustic with his words, I wonder about his music.

Karen – who is busy with family right now, but I know will be back to blogging soon. It’s been fun getting to know her, I would like to know more.

Even though this says pass this on to three people, I’m adding a fourth to the list, Jade.

She’s a music lover too. She’s always opening new doors for me, in more ways than one :)

DMB concert – backstage pass Posted by Hello

Yesterday, we went to the Dave Matthews Band concert in Virginia Beach, VA. That was awesome! We had a great time. Ivan’s cousin is the LeRoi Moore, the saxophonist for the band, and he gave us backstage passes. We got to go and have dinner backstage before the show, and hung out in in the VIP lounge. It was a three hour drive to Virginia, but it was worth it, we badly needed a break, and this was perfect. It was five in the morning when we got back home so we went straight to bed. The rest of the day, we just relaxed at home.
