Google Glasses is the new gadget being talked about in tech circles and although I am usually not one to keep up with what’s the latest in technology, I must admit that it intrigues me. What caught my attention is its ability to take photos or videos and immediately post it to social networking sites like facebook or twitter.
From the personal home video recorders of old to the proliferation of spy cam video cameras, we have gotten so we can virtually record every aspect of our life easily and even sureptitiously.
Aside from documenting milestones in our families, cameras have also become crucial in maintaining our security systems. We can now monitor everything from our homes, our businesses, our families, our employees, and yes, even our cheating spouses. The list of possibilities, as you probably know, is endless.
As gadgets become more sophisticated and more easily concealed, there is no telling anymore when you’re being watched and by whom. I’m not sure that I like that. I’m not sure that I would like any event that someone would consider ‘share worthy’ could be immediately viewed by others without my consent.
But, it seems to be the way things are going to be in our culture. With this new Google glasses, now the spy cam is going mobile and accessible to more people. I wonder how this will impact privacy rights?
I wonder how it will affect people’s safety! I would think it would be very distracting.
Now I also wonder who among of my techie friends will be the first to jump on the band wagon. Will you?
